Rivets or eyelets
First we will make a styled line.
Open a new image 800 x 400
Foreground & Background set to #000000
Click on your Pen Tool
Click on your Line style and choose solid
and click on the custom box
we now have our styled line editor active
now click on your first cap segement and choose ball
beside were your first cap segement is it will say size click to open and change the width to 3.00
now repeat these settings on your other 3 caps make sure you have different segment checked to make them all active
your caps should look like this
now we want to add dashes so click on Add and change length to 100.00
click on save as new and give your new styled line a name.
using pen tool and the new styled line you just made with these settings make sure anti-alias is checked.
draw out your styled line now i only want to use part of the styled line so with your lasso tool select part of your line like below.
copy and paste as new image this is what you have.
now lets zoom in on our image and with the selection tool choose rectangle and select the center piece of your image like below
now change your foreground to a colour of your choice i have chosen a blue
and floodfill your selection
keep selected and go to effects plugins Redfield Jama 3D with these settings
now add new raster layer and using a rivet tube place it on one end of your image over your ball part now duplicate layer
go to image mirror you should have this. (images are zoomend in to give clear detail)
now go to your raster 1 layer and with the eraser tool erase the black parts just outside of both rivets not needed (you can at this point erase all of the black if you wish to have a transparent hole)
back to your first rivet layer and erase part of the rivet so as it looks like the lace is going through the hole like below repeat for your second rivet.
now all you have to do is add some more detail to your lace. with your raster layer 1 highlighted zoom in on your image and with the warp brush
just slightly with a small size setting push outwards.
do this on both ends of your lace doing this will make the lace appear more rounded and look more taught going through the holes.
dont do too much as you will distort the image. Just undo and redo if need be to get the look you want. Once you like what you have
merge layers visible and save as picture tube. Save also as psp. image that way you can recolour and change rivets.
here is my finished piece.
