Making A Bow
open new image 600x600
resolution 300 dpi
you can choose a colour or pattern i'm using a light coloured pattern
MAKING THE KNOT
click on your preset shape choose rounded rectangle
draw out shape like below

now convert this layer to raster by clicking on the layer on your history pallet
go to layers and duplicate this layer
now rename your duplicated layer bow1
and rename your rectangle layer knot
keep your knot layer highlighted
now go to effects distortion wave with these settings

now hide your knot layer for now
and highlight your bow1 layer
now using your mesh warp tool move the nodes like mine
below to make our bow part

now duplicate this layer and rename bow2
with bow2 highlighted go to image mirror
now move your bow ends so they join like below

now back to your history layer pallet click on your knot layer arrange bring to top
position your knot with the move tool in the center of your bow
with the mesh warp tool you can now play around with the nodes to position your knot with the bows.
like below

now click on your knot layer adjust sharpness sharpen do the same on layers bow 1&2
now we can shade our bow to give it more detail
now highlight your bow1 layer
go to effects plugin greg's factory output vol II pool shadow with these settings

now apply the same filter on bow 2 & your knot
now highlight your knot layer add a drop shadow
i used

now add drop shadow again this time reversing the vertical and horizontal settings
next highlight your bow 1 layer using your light/darken tool with these settings

now this will take a little getting used to if you havent used light /dark tool but keep practicing.
and it will improve.
Make your bow look like it has little folds notice in screentshot below how i've
used the light and dark to define my bow.
